Saturday, August 29th...run at Rodeo Beach
Woke up around 7:30 AM to head over to Rodeo Beach for trail runs. The heat was intense today and effected my run completely. We started with a warm up jog as a team and our plan was to run 8 miles for Olympic and 10 miles for half-ironman. As we began our climb on the trail...the heat pounded down and I literally felt like I had weights on my legs. I ended up walking for awhile up the never ending hill which I usually don't do. I was dripping sweat and knew that I was low energy. I'm so thankful it's not always this hot. I'm actually more discouraged to do a tri in Hawaii now even though that would be beautiful. I'd have to pick Alaska! I was walking up the hill with our captain heather and I decided to turn back early and not to do a full 8 miles. Of course, since I get lost every time, I got lost on the way back. I ended up going on a massive hike by myself and got back to the parking lot the same time the 10 mile people. I don't know how many miles I hike, but I hike around 1 hour and half. I felt disappointed I couldn't run today, but I still feel like I got a big workout. Who knows...I guess this week is just off. I probably should stop going out so much. Maybe for the next week I'll be chill. Yea right!
