FRIDAY was my big partayyy at 111 Minna. I can't believe what a success it was. I showed up a bit early to set up and Louise, my DJ was already there. Apparently, the other DJ's were stuck in traffic for 2 hours from San Jose, but Louise got to play longer which is cool. Alison worked the door for the first hour and we charged $10 at the door and sold $2 raffle tickets. I had a schedule set up, but that ended up going out the door. Molly, my roommate was amazing and worked the door all night. Her foot was hurt, so it worked out perfect because she could sit. I kind of forgot about my raffle tickets for the longest time because I was so hyperactive and overly excited. So many people came that I know and so many people came that I did not know. I loved it. My friend Erin, really helped me get the raffle tickets going and so did Melody. They started selling 10 at a time. I was so spastic that I couldn't keep up. We actually didn't tear the tickets in half for awhile and had to make a microphone announcement to fix the error. I'd say overall the party was smooth, but I learned what to do for next time. For instance, in my silent auction...it was extremely hard to collect money. I actually still need to collect about $500! When I got home, I tried to figure out how much I raised, but it was confusing with the silent auction. Luckily almost everyone who won was a friend.
At 7 PM, Melody did the raffle prizes on the Mic. She was the best MC! She really got the crowd going. Around 8 we did the silent auction and then somehow after that, my friends made an announcement that I was going to do $1 dances. Everyone started throwing $'s at me. I must of made at least $50 just doing that! Overall, I made over $2K (still collecting) from the party! I should be at goal, or very close. I might be $100 short, but hopefully I'm done! I'm so excited and relived that it worked out. I have such great friends who helped me with the party and made it a success.
