My First Tri...

Hi- I'd thought I start a blog so people can learn more about the Team in Training event I'm working on. I must say it's a lot more work than I anticipated. I definitely have never done anything remotely like this in my life. I'm so impressed with people on my team who have blogs, threw parties already, etc. It's motivating me to step it up. I reserved a night a Elixer for a bar tending night. Elixier in the mission will give me 50% off tips for the night and they have $1 drink specials. The only problem is it's late August...a bit too close to the event in my opinion. I might have to just throw a big party instead. It's a little overwhelming, but fun to think about. Yoga Tree just donated 7 classes for a raffle prize when I do throw a party!

June 29
Today’s training:
Olympic
A: 40' @ L2
w/ 5 X 2' @ L3

I have no idea how to read the Team calendar. I rode my bike for 65 minutes. I accidentally looked at the iron man schedule. Opps..I could’ve ridden only for 40. Well, it’s ok…I probably cheated and went too slow anyway! I have a habit of doing that. Here’s a breakdown of L2 and L3. Level 2 is basically so you can barely have a conversation and level 3 is huffing and puffing (perfect for SF hills). I left downtown after work cruising on my bike. I decided to take an extra long way home to get my heart rate up and my 65 minutes in. The wind was really kicking today. I thought I might be knocked over. I cruised past the Ferry building and down part fisherman’s wharf and into the marina green. I actually started the ride kind of grumpy, but seeing the beauty of SF lifted my spirits. I rode to the golden gate bridge over looking the water. The best part of this training is actually doing all the things I’ve wanted to do like ride through the Presidio, but was always afraid to do it alone. I’m getting over the fear and starting to explore on my own. After the ride I was too far from home to ride back so I hopped on the bus with my bike. Oh and to all my friends in the city…I didn’t leave the bike on the bus this time. Thank goodness!
